- Make ready 2 1/4 cups water (130°F)
- Make ready 2 1/2 Tbsp active yeast

Instructions to make Bread Bowls:
- In a large bowl add 1 cup warm water, 1 tbsp sugar and sprinkle in yeast. Set aside to “proof” or get foamy, about 10 minutes.
- Pour into stand mixer, add melted butter, remaining sugar and salt and mix until combined. Gradually add flour. Knead with your mixer or by hand for about 5 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place in a large greased bowl. Cover, place in oven with light on and allow to rise until doubled, (about 45 minutes)
- After first rise, punch dough down and form into 6 equal sized balls. Place dough balls on a greased cookie sheet and lightly cover with plastic wrap. Let rise once more for about 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown
- Allow to cool and then cut out the top.
- Using your hands, press the dough inside the ball firmly to the bottom and sides.
- Fill with you favorite stew or chili (we used my homemade chicken stew)
- Serve immediately
